“Welcome to boating” clinics scheduled for September
Free basic instructional program back by popular demand
The Maryland Department of Natural Resources, the Marine Trades Association of Maryland, the Annapolis School of Seamanship, and the Boat US Foundation for Safety and Clean Water sponsor free “Welcome to Boating“Clinics at Sandy Point State Park. Clinics – held on Friday September 17th from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday September 18 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. – provide instruction to new and experienced boaters on how to properly launch, load, retrieve and moor a towable vessel.
The instruction on mooring, launching and water safety will last 30 minutes from 12:30 p.m. on September 17 and from 10 a.m. on September 18 (to be repeated 4 times a day).
Boaters can also chat with experts on a variety of topics including flares and other safety items, boat paint and finishes, winterization, bunker safety, towing and anchoring. , and more. Participants will also learn about departmental safety education, clean navigation and other experts. Annapolis Boat Shows offers discounts on its October shows, although quantities are limited.
The event is most suitable for adults and children aged 14 and over. Participants do not have to bring their own boats; The instructors will demonstrate their skills on their ships. Participation in the event is subject to any COVID-19 safety precautions that may be required by the location, local ordinance, and / or Maryland Department of Health guidelines.
