An exciting experience is returning to Toronto this summer, and it will light up your world. Toronto Kayaks, renamed Illuminated Escapes, is bringing its light-up boats back to the city, and this year there will be two new places to enjoy them.
The light activity, which claims to be “Canada’s first immersive kayaking experience,” reopens this month, with select locations welcoming guests from June 8.
The experience first launched in 2021 at the Humber River, and it’s returning there as well as for the first time at Woodbine Beach and the Heart Lake Conservation Area in Brampton.
You can drift on the water in transparent hybrid kayaks equipped with LED lights and Bluetooth speakers. The speakers connect to your phone, so you can listen to all your favorite tunes while you paddle.
Single and tandem (two-seater) kayaks are available for rent starting at $60. Single kayaks are available for daily rental and do not have LED lights, although they are still completely transparent, making for a totally unique experience.
Tandem kayaks can be reserved during the day for $100 or overnight for $120.
If you want to have fun, you can make a reservation online. The schedule will be published on a monthly basis so that everyone has the opportunity to reserve a time slot.
Illuminated Escapes is also launching its first two locations in Alberta this month, so if you’re traveling this summer, you can check out that experience there, too.
