hl2 Sports board brand uses PLM to prepare for future growth

CAMPBELL, Calif., March 31, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ — Slingshot Sports, the sports board company, has selected Centric Software®’s product lifecycle management (PLM) solution, Centric PLM. Centric Software provides the most innovative business solutions to plan, design, develop, source and sell products such as apparel, footwear, sporting goods, furniture, home decor, cosmetics, food and beverages and luxury in order to achieve strategic and operational digital transformation objectives.

Founded in 1999 by brothers Jeff and Tony Logosz, Slingshot Sports is an innovative company that started with kiteboards and expanded into wakeboarding, windsurfing, stand up paddleboarding, wing surfing and foiling across the various boards. Slingshot’s parent company, 7 Nation, turned to Ride Engine, makers of the revolutionary hard-shell, customizable kiteboarding harness. Ride Engine also offers a range of water sports equipment, wetsuits, bags and accessories. The products of both companies are sold in many countries around the world.

Greg Kis, Product Line Manager at Slingshot Sports describes the company’s expansion into different categories. “We started with kitesurfing, followed by wakeboarding, wake surfing and paddle boarding. And then a few years ago the foil board trend started to really hit. It kind of changed the business; everything the world wanted hydrofoils, so Slingshot embraced that with a product called the hover glide, a modular foil platform that cuts across all sports.”

With the expansion of categories came the need for better project management. Kish says, “As the sports, brands, and SKU list grew, it became extremely difficult to manage all of this information out of line cards, excel documents, and then try to fit it into our ERP system. And manage our supply chain. , suppliers, accounting and all that communication too.” Add to that the complicating factor that boards for each discipline are measured differently. Kish notes, “Wakeboard boards are measured in centimeters. Sail surfboards and kite surfboards are measured in litres. Surfboards are measured in feet and inches, and all of these differences need to be captured and linked to the different categories.”

Slingshot looked at different vendors, narrowing the field down to three candidates. After several demos where the team evaluated features and spoke to references from all potential vendors, they selected Centric PLM. Centric’s experience with material goods, the large number of references in sporting goods as well as the rest of the ratings tipped the scales in favor of Centric.

About the Centric team, Kish says, “They did a great job. Our sales rep answered a lot of questions and our implementation team was great, very patient with us.”

Slingshot is eager to bring all remote design and development information together in one place, a single source of truth for product development. According to Kish, “Centric PLM provides end-to-end process visibility and houses data and designs, so none of it is lost if someone leaves the company. Having this library of information “, to be able to access it and have transparency in our development process, is huge. Our hope is that we will be able to develop products more efficiently and at a better cost structure in the future.

Chris GrovesPresident and CEO of Centric Software said, “We are delighted that such an innovative company has placed their trust in Centric PLM. Given the complexity of the Slingshot and Ride Engine product offerings, we are excited to work with them to meet their needs and optimize the efficiency of their workflows. »
