Seminole in freedom under federal supervision accused of BUI | Crimes, accidents and fires

REDINGTON SHORES – Pinellas County Sheriff’s Deputies investigated an overnight boating accident on October 2 that resulted in the arrest of Paul Charles Rae, 38, of Seminole. Rae is currently on federal probation due to his indictment in the Jan.6 incident at the United States Capitol.

MPs assigned to the Marine Unit responded to a small island in the Intercostal Waterway near 794 182nd Avenue East in Redington Shores around 10 p.m. Several witnesses reported the crash after seeing the ship heading north at high speed.

MPs say the ship ran aground on the small island and located it about 75 feet from the waterline. Rae and his passenger were also found on the island, both unharmed and showing signs of impairment.

MPs assigned to the DUI unit conducted an investigation into boating under the influence and Rae showed several signs of impairment. He was arrested and taken to Pinellas County Jail where he was convicted of a charge of navigation under the influence. Rae was released from jail on his own recognizance shortly after 9 a.m.

The boat, which was stranded overnight, was due to be pulled from the island by a tug company on Sunday morning.
