Online auction to raise funds for EndeavOR New Mexico

November 28 — Outdoor enthusiasts can now participate in their dream adventures for a fraction of the price.

EndeavOR New Mexico is holding an online auction to raise funds for the group. Every item sold at auction provides an opportunity to get outside. There are outdoor adventure packages as well as gear up for grabs. The auctions are currently running until Tuesday, November 30 and can be viewed at effortnm.org.

EndeavOR New Mexico, also known as the New Mexico Outdoor Recreation Business Alliance, is a voice for the outdoor industry. The organization was launched in August 2020 in the midst of the pandemic and has 175 members.

James Glover, co-director of EndeavOR New Mexico, said its members donated more than 50 items for the auction. There is a minimum bid for each item, but it is well below the actual cost. The minimum amount depends on the adventure or the item being auctioned.

Glover said the great thing about New Mexico is the abundance of outdoor activities available. He said New Mexico offers opportunities for camping, off-road exploration, fishing, hunting, water sports, trails and snow, and wildlife viewing.

“The interesting thing about New Mexico is that we have it all,” Glover said. “Any community here offers great outdoor recreation, no matter where it is located. “

Glover said one of the greatest values is a luxury stay at the Four Seasons Rancho Encantado. Priced at $ 1,900, the auction starts at the low price of $ 500. The winner of this item will get an overnight stay at a King Casita, a half-day adventure tour from ancient to present through the ancestral lands of the Pueblo people of New Mexico. There is also a multi-day guided bike ride for two valued at $ 3,000 with a minimum opening bid of $ 750.

“If you ever thought about trying something in outdoor recreation, this is your chance to do it,” Glover said. “You can do the things you wanted to do but failed to do.”

Some of the other packages available are a full day whitewater rafting trip in the Taos Box, a hot air balloon ride for two, a four-pack ski ticket and equipment rental for Pajarito Mountain, a horseback ride and paddle boarding on the Rio Grande giving participants the chance to see porcupines, turtles and sandhill cranes.

MST Adventures donated the stand up paddleboard auction item. Owner Corey Spoores sits on EndeavOR’s board of directors and is a founding member of the alliance. He said adventure tourism is available in New Mexico, but until recently it was not adequately promoted. He said the state has an abundance of public land that is underutilized. The auction gives people a chance to explore some of these activities.

“I believe in our mission to expand the outdoor recreation economy in New Mexico,” Spoores said. “We want outdoor businesses to not only survive, but thrive. “
