MP Academy players sail to glory; wins 29 medals at the 31st National Kayak-Canoe Championship | Bhopal News

BHOPAL: Madhya Pradesh State Watersports Academy players won 29 medals, including 12 gold and 12 silver in the 31st National Canoe Kayak Senior National Championship recently concluded in Bilaspur, Himachal Pradesh. In the championship, the women’s team of MP won the championship in the general classification, while the men’s team finished second in the general classification.
MP Academy’s Kaveri Dhimar, who did brilliantly in the championship, won a total of seven medals. Sports Minister Yashodhara Raje Scindia congratulated the players of the Academy of Water Sports for this achievement. She said it was the result of the hard and tireless work of the academy players. She also praised coach Pijush Kanti Baroi and the hard work of the players.
Among the medalists, Kaveri, a worker daughter, who has been at the academy since 2017, amazed everyone with her performance. Kaveri, a resident of Mandi Village in Sehore District, has been fond of water sports since he was a child. She learned about the academy’s trials and decided to join the academy. Kaveri worked continuously hard and won medals for MP, the coaches said.
National champion for the past three years, Kaveri has also competed in qualifying for the Tokyo Olympics and the Asian Games. Coach Baroi said Kaveri performed better than expected in the championship. She said the MP Water Sports Academy has world class facilities. The players have done an impressive job while enjoying these facilities.
“It is thanks to the efforts of Sports Minister Scindia that I was able to represent MP in national competitions. I was able to achieve this success thanks to high quality training, food and accommodation at the academy, ”she said.
