Rockingham County EMS: Man injured after SUV hits Dan River
A man has returned home and is recovering after being pinned down by his vehicle while driving in the Dan River on Sunday morning. According to Rockingham County EMS, the gentleman had been trying to unload a kayak and place it in the river, when the vehicle began rolling towards him. His family shared with WXII that he tried to jump into the SUV to stop it from rolling, but got stuck between the door and the railing of the steps leading down to the River Dan. He suffered broken ribs and broken bones but was released from hospital on Monday afternoon, they said. On Sunday, Rockingham County EMS was able to remove the vehicle from the river.
