This is a press release from the city of Arcata:
The Town of Arcata is delighted to announce that the newly redesigned tennis and pickleball courts at Larson Park will reopen on Monday, September 20.
The Arcata City Larson Park tennis court resurfacing project consisted of upgrading the Larson Park playing fields, and the courts were closed to the public during completion.
Work on this project took about a week and on schedule the tennis courts were cleaned, redone and repainted to include three pickle ball courts to allow residents to enjoy more sporting options.
Larson Park’s playgrounds hadn’t been redone in over 10 years. As this project nears completion, Director of Environmental Services Emily Sinkhorn said, âWe are delighted to have these remodeled lands available to the residents of Larson Park. We encourage everyone to visit the park and take a walk on the Humboldt Bay Trail along Foster Avenue to see the new mural on the Shay Park basketball court. The city of Arcata prides itself on fostering a community that values ââspending time outdoors.
The Town of Arcata would like to remind visitors to Larson Park that the playgrounds should not be used for roller skating, skateboarding, or biking, as any activity other than racket / paddle sports may cause injury. chips, pits, scratches and fractures in the new surface. .
