Kayak raffle part of Weber City Fire Department fundraising efforts | News

WEBER CITY – The Weber City Volunteer Fire Department continues to raise funds for its future fire station. This time, the department’s efforts include a brand new kayak and fishing gear — which could be yours.

The WCVFD is offering tickets to enter the raffle which includes a Pelican Strike kayak with a paddle, two fishing rods, lures and other fishing gear. The cost is $2 for a ticket. A booklet of 10 raffle tickets costs $15.

“We hope to draw (the winner) at the end of March or the first of April,” WCVFD captain Matt Ison said.

The department is looking to use the raffle, along with other fundraising events this year, to turn Weber City’s former Food City into a new fire station.

“It gives us more money that we don’t have or can’t get anywhere,” Ison said. “We can put it in this new building and hopefully do enough to get into the building sooner than expected.”

The project is currently in the design stage, Ison said. Meanwhile, the WCVFD plans to set up a car show fundraiser starting in the spring and lasting through the summer.

Tickets will be sold until spring. Raffle tickets are
