COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho – Enjoy the last days of summer while fishing for rainbow trout in the Idaho Panhandle area.

The Idaho Fish and Game Department stocks 15,000 rainbow trout in various lakes in northern Idaho.

You can find trout in these areas:

  • Antelope lake. Will be stocked from September 6-10.
  • Pond in Post Falls Park. Will be stocked from September 6-10.
  • Smith Lake. Will be stocked from September 6-10.
  • Snow Creek Pond. Will be stocked from September 6-10.
  • Gene day pond. Will be stocked from September 6-10.
  • Lake Avondale. Will be stocked from September 13th to 17th.
  • Fernan Lake. Will be stocked September 13-17 and September 20-24.
  • Lower Twin Lake. Will be stocked September 13-17 and September 20-24.
  • Mirror Lake. Will be stocked from September 13th to 17th.
  • Round Lake. Will be stocked from September 13th to 17th.

The IDFG said stocking is temporary and depends on water conditions. Storage dates may change due to weather or personnel constraints.

Many places are easy to access and suitable for families, the department said. Make sure you have a fishing license and basic equipment when you go.

The department said annual fishing licenses for adults cost around $ 30, and those for children between the ages of 14 and 17 cost $ 16, but they are free for children 14 and under. You purchase a license here or call (800) 554-8685.
