Carsharer Getaround and travel search engine Kayak have entered into a partnership that integrates Getaround’s contactless offerings with Kayak’s platforms and services, according to a press release. The integration allows Kayak users to search for vehicles through Getaround’s car-sharing service. Getaround is the first Kayak car-sharing partner to offer an hourly booking model and an entirely contactless experience, according to the company.
Getaround-Kayak integration is now available for travelers visiting Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Denver, Honolulu, Los Angeles, New York, Phoenix, San Francisco Bay Area, Tampa, Washington DC and many more.
“Getaround is very pleased to enter into this new strategic marketing agreement with Kayak to deliver a revolutionary, digital and convenient contactless carsharing experience for Kayak travelers,” said Sy Fahimi, CEO of Getaround. “Today more than ever, travelers are looking to save money and are looking for convenience. With Getaround, you can instantly book cars or trucks for as little as an hour, which is great for day trips on long trips. Beyond that, we offer daily or weekly bookings, allowing Getaround to meet the needs of all KAYAK travellers.
By moving away from the traditional concept of owning a car, Getaround’s mission is to create a world in which fewer cars are on the road, traffic and pollution are reduced, and greenhouse gases are reduced.
“We’re making Kayak’s car and truck search results even more comprehensive with the addition of Getaround,” said Paul Jacobs, general manager and vice president, Kayak North America. “We continue to see strong demand for car rentals and peer-to-peer carsharing is a great option for travellers.”
Travelers coordinating their trips through Kayak can now reserve a car with Getaround by selecting the “View Deal” button, which will automatically redirect them to the Getaround website to complete their car reservation. Prices start as low as $5 per hour in many cities.
