Mother’s Day is this Sunday and if you haven’t shopped for her yet, here’s a list of recommendations any outdoor-loving mom would love.
1. Voormi Mesh Swift Water Skirt
Crafted with precision wool, the Swift Water Skirt is designed with a double-knit surface that makes it incredibly lightweight with enhanced moisture-wicking properties. Extremely compressible, the mesh construction makes the skirt breathable without being transparent. Ideal for slipping on after a desert bike ride or a summer paddle board session. $80, voormi.com
2. Skida Nordic Beanie
One of my favorite hats for high activity, the Nordic was Skida’s first hat. Originally designed for cross-country skiing, the poly-blend beanie goes above and beyond for year-round activities. It’s perfect when you want to stay dry while exercising, then stow it in a pocket. It will also fit under a ski helmet. Skida also offers some of the best colors and patterns of any headwear on the market. $32, Skida products are available at Incline Ski & Board Shop in Aspen and Snowmass.
3. Glerups Slip-On Slippers
This 100% pure, natural wool felt slipper is primarily designed for indoor use, but can easily transition to quick jaunts outdoors thanks to its natural rubber sole. I love the absorbency of the wool in these slippers, my feet don’t sweat like in the cotton slippers. Comfortable and flexible, they’ll be mom’s new go-to (I’m literally wearing them as I write this). Note that a little wool will lose the first couple a little, but it is easy to remove. $135, glerups.com
4. Prana Kanab Shorts
Organic cotton, nylon and a tiny bit of spandex come together to create these comfortable shorts. A knit waistband adds an extra element of comfort and deep front and back pockets make it easy to store a phone or other essentials. Technically designed for climbers, the Kanab will transition easily to other summer activities like hiking. $59, Prana products are available at Ute Mountaineer in Aspen.
5. Parks Project Visit Parks Enamel Dinnerware Set
For the mom who appreciates fun graphics, this dinnerware set is illustrated by Rachel Jung of Rayco Design of San Diego. A classic glossy enamel construction reminiscent of vintage park designs, includes two plates, two bowls, and two mugs. Sure to rank camping, the set is made by Parks Project, a purpose-driven organization that stands up for parks and people. $98 (on sale for $50 at press time), parksproject.us
6. Toad & Co Crusher Dress
Mother’s Day is synonymous with spring, and this dress from Toad & Co. couldn’t be more cheerful if it tried. Made from a cooling, quick-drying fabric, the dress is light and airy with two side pockets. A simple tank top style, the dress would also be ideal for travel and will be a hit with mum as she transitions into summer. $95, Toad & Co. products are available at Bristlecone Mountain Sports in Basalt.
