Dorothy A. Shirey, 97, of Syracuse, formerly of Hobart, Indiana, died Friday, October 14, 2022. She was born April 22, 1925 to the late Harry and Ruth Small. She worked at Comays Jewelers and Park Pharmacy. Dorothy was a former member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Hobart. She enjoyed boating, gardening, bird watching and checking Facebook.
She is survived by her husband, Leslie Shirey, one son, Gordon (Janet) Shirey, three daughters, Barbara Workman, Deborah (late Tom Luedtke), Pamela (James) Williams, eleven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her daughter, Susan (Robert) Thornberry, one brother, John Small, two sisters, Ethel Peck and Helen Redding. Cremation will take place with Rees Funeral Home and Cremation Service. Memorial services will be held Monday, October 17, 2022 at 7 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, 600 West Old Ridge Road. Cremains’ burial will take place at Graceland Cemetery at a later date. The memorial visitation takes place on Monday, October 17, 2022 just before the 5-7 p.m. service at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart.
