EAST GRAND FORKS — The Cats Incredible Catfish Tournament kicks off Saturday and organizers expect around 70 teams to take part in the event.
Fishing hours are 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days. The tournament headquarters is at LaFave Park under Cabela’s in East Grand Forks, and the event is open to 125 two-person teams.
The entry fee is $230 per two-person team, and anglers can register for the event until Friday’s rules meeting at 7 p.m. As of Thursday, more than 60 teams had signed up for the tournament, said Kelly Clement of MotherDuck Marketing and Sales, who handles longtime tournament promotion.
Also back for Cats Incredible this year, Incredible Dogs. The popular DockDogs competition returns with events scheduled for Friday night and all day Saturday and Sunday.
Another attraction, the Cats Incredible Medallion Hunt, kicked off on Wednesday, when the first clues were posted on the Cats Incredible Facebook page. As part of the hunt, a medallion is hidden somewhere in Grand Forks. The person who finds the locket, which is marked with “DQ” engraved on it, should post a photo of themselves with the locket and where they found it on the
or bring it to Cats Incredible Tournament headquarters between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Saturday.
The winner will receive a Blizzard DQ every week for a year, courtesy of the Dairy Queen in East Grand Forks.
