Catching up with Devin Wozencraft—Paused Road Warrior

With the possible exception of the Rolling Stones, no one spins harder than Devin Wozencraft. Like Mick and the guys — yes, I’m taking liberties — the Southern California-based high-performance insurance man realized long ago that his act is best enjoyed by a live audience. So he bought a 30ft Skater Motor Boats catamaran and launched its own road show, lightly dubbed the Wozencraft World Tour on this website, five years ago.

With his first concerts this year, the Joey Gratton Memorial New Year’s Day Fun Run followed by the Fort Myers at sea Holiday Fun Run in Southwest Florida – Already behind him, Wozencraft is currently enjoying some time off with his family in California. Next month he will go to Miami International Boat Show and the Florida Powerboat Club Miami Boat Show Poker Run. His catamaran is already in the Sunshine State, he left it at Marine Statement in Clearwater, Florida, where the 30ft is updated with new flooring, before heading home.

“Right now I’m laying low until I go back to Florida for the Miami show,” he said.

The Wozencraft Tower was the first catamaran to be upgraded with mercury racethe latest hybrid product from i.e. 300R outboard motors with forward midsections. That, too, was a byproduct of its annual road show, as the Fond du Lac, Wis., company commissioned Wozencraft to demonstrate in the re-engined 30-footer at the product’s media unveiling last March. It was one of twelve events he tackled in 2021.

Coming to an event near the year, Devin Wozencraft and his famous 30ft Skater catamaran.

Wozencraft’s life on the road, at least as far as Florida is concerned, is about to get a whole lot easier. In August 2021, he bought a house in Cape Coral. For now at least, he calls it “the Florida office.”

“It’s 75% furnished,” he said. “I am delighted to have a second home there. After Miami, I’ll be back on track starting with other events in Southwest Florida before heading to Louisiana for the Tickfaw 200 Poker Race.”

An unparalleled grassroots marketer in the world of speed boating, Wozencraft seeks out new events to attend each year. It also has a bunch of classics such as the Boyne Thunder Poker Race in Michigan and the LEOPA Thunderfest Poker Run in Ohio he won’t miss. But he won’t admit to having a favourite.

“How could I do this and alienate the other event organizers? he said, then laughed. “I To do I love the LEOPA Thunderfest at Put-In-Bay, it’s an amazing venue. And Key West? He is their grandfather to all.
