Chandigarh, January 29
The Chandigarh Industrial and Tourism Development Corporation (CITCO) has launched the cashless payment service for most of its services at Sukhna Lake.
The department implemented this facility for the Nautical Counter, Food Court and Chef Lakeview Restaurant. The installation was launched in view of the spread of Covid-19. To avail the facility, a card would be given to a customer which can be recharged as per his convenience.
In this regard, a department official said that CITCO has launched the cashless payment facility for most lakeside services. “Now people will be able to pay with cards for boating and buying food etc. For the card, people will have to pay Rs30 once as security money after which they can top up the card as per their convenience and do the resulting payments,” he said, adding that upon return of the card, the security amount would be refunded. At the same time, the payment system for all services would also continue as before, a he declared.
With the decline in Covid cases, all activities resumed at the lake from Friday.
On January 3, the administration had shut down boating and other activities after the third wave of Corona. About 150 people enjoyed boating on the lake today. However, the number is much lower than that of visitors seen at the lake before during the weekends. A CITCO official said most tourists were not yet fully aware of the resumption of activity at the lake. He said the department was also working on starting more business at the lake. A party boat is already operating on the lake. —
