The Bethel Park community came together on Saturday to remember a local high school teacher who was killed in an accident earlier this summer. Jon Gentile, a social studies teacher, died in May following a kayaking accident. The “celebration of life” was held Saturday at Bethel Park High School. Principal Joe Villani said dealing with the loss of a beloved faculty member has been difficult. “It’s something you never imagine,” Villani said. “Something you would never want to happen at a school. But here at Bethel Park we usually say we’re family and that’s only made us stronger in a way. It makes us realize how much we are. special for each other, this community and as a school as a whole.” Saturday’s rally included music by the students, a slideshow highlighting Gentile’s life, and guest speakers.
